Comedian Dave Chappelle Warned not to Smoke During Show

Dave Chappelle was issued a warning by the city of Toronto for smoking cigarettes during two of his three shows at Winter Garden Theater, reports the Toronto Star.

In response to the threatened fine, Chappelle made an unscheduled visit to Toronto Mayor Rob Ford’s office Wednesday to ask if he could smoke on stage during the last of his three shows.

Shortly afterwards, the theater received a call from Toronto Public Health to remind them of the 'Smoke-Free Ontario Act,' which says "that all performers must be in compliance with the [no tobacco use] legislation. There are no exemptions.”
