Coldplay’s Chris Martin has come out to tell the world that he is a long-time sufferer of the ailment tinnitus.
Tinnitus is a condition that causes ringing in the ears and painful earache and headaches. This condition often afflicts those who reportedly listen to loud music — something that is basically unavoidable in Martin’s line of work!
Marin told The Daily Mirror:
“I’ve had tinnitus for about ten years, but since I started protecting my ears it hasn’t gotten any worse… Looking after your ears is unfortunately something you don’t think about until there’s a problem. I wish I’d thought about it earlier.”
Popular VideoThis young teenage singer was shocked when Keith Urban invited her on stage at his concert. A few moments later, he made her wildest dreams come true.
Martin believes he has had this condition long before he started playing with Coldplay and he now takes precautions while performing. Martin does not expose his children to loud music. A source close to Martin told the Mirror:
“Chris suffered with terrible ringing in his ears and excruciating headaches. If he hadn’t sought treatment, he might not be performing today.”
Tinnitus can cause severe hearing damage and even deafness if left untreated. Martin is speaking out as he gets involved with Action on Hearing Loss, a U.K. organization that aims to prevent and treat hearing loss.
