Though it was rumored that Carey Mulligan would be taking the role of Hillary Clinton in biopic 'Rodham,' she has reportedly turned it down.

Mulligan, 28, met with the director of the movie but decided to pass on the project.

Other actresses in the running are Scarlett Johansson, Amanda Seyfried and Reese Witherspoon. Jessica Chastain was also rumored to have taken the role, but has since denied it.

"No, that's actually not true. I found out about the project online, but yeah, there's a lot of stuff out there," she said.

Director Ponsoldt said, "they're all wonderful actresses. We're very fortunate that a lot of really great actors are interested in playing these roles. We're in an enviable position."

Jennifer Lawrence was also considered, but is busy during the time of filming.
