Beyonce and Jay-Z to Trademark Their Baby's Name

| by Michael Allen

Beyonce and Jay-Z have filed an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to trademark their daughter’s name, Blue Ivy Carter.

Apparently, their application comes on the heels of two other people who sought to profit off of Blue Ivy’s name.

On January 11, fashion designer Joseph Mbeh submitted his own application for “'Blue Ivy Carter NYC.' Then on January 20, a second party tried to trademark 'Blue Ivy Carter Glory IV' for fragrances.

Both filings were denied, with the Patent and Trademark Office ruling that the name belonged to a “very famous infant."
