Former Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger has written an autobiography, 'Total Recall: My Unbelievably True Life Story,' in which he reveals how he told his wife Maria Shriver about his affair with their housekeeper, Mildred Baena, and the child it produced.
According to the NY Daily News, Shriver waited until her spouse left the governor’s office to confront him about the child.
For years Schwarzenegger didn’t want to believe it was his baby until the boy grew up and the physical resemblance became obvious. Schwarzenegger wrote: "I realized there was little doubt that he was my son."
The couple went to counseling the day after Schwarzenegger left the Governor’s Mansion, the actor recalls: "The minute we sat down, the therapist turned to me and said 'Maria wanted to come here today and to ask about a child – whether you fathered a child with your housekeeper Mildred.' I told the therapist 'It's true.'"

Schwarzenegger wrote: “But instead of doing the right thing I'd just put the truth in a mental compartment and locked it up where I didn't deal with it every day."
Schwarzenegger says that he kept the mother as his housekeeper to “control the situation.” He also has been financially supporting the boy and his mother after the woman’s husband left her.
The revelation led to Shriver divorcing her husband a year ago. The book will be published on October 1.
