April Spielman, Dressed as Tinkerbell, Not Allowed into Disney's Animal Kingdom

April Spielman dressed up as the Walt Disney character Tinkerbell for her boyfriend's first trip to the Magic Kingdom, but their visit to Walt Disney World didn't quite have a fairy tale ending.

The 15-year-old Spielman told WKMG-TV: "My makeup took two hours, my hair took another hour, and then I had to spray my body in glitter and paint my nails."

Her boyfriend was dressed up like Peter Pan, a costume that she also put together.

They got into into Disney's MGM Studios theme park on Sunday, but were unable to enter Disney's Animal Kingdom.

Spielman said security stopped them at the front gate because her costume was too accurate: "They said I looked too good. It just broke my heart. I didn't want to take off the costume."

However, Walt Disney World's dress code does say that "adult costumes or clothing that can be viewed as representative of an actual Disney character may result in refusal of admittance."

Disney security told Spielman that children might confuse her for the 'real' Tinkerbell character at Disney.

While Spielman complained and wept, Disney park officials gave her a free T-shirt to wear and FastPass tickets to her family, so they could skip the lines on the rides, while the weeping teen was changing into her free clothing.
