Alleged Marilyn Monroe Sex Film to be Auctioned

It turns out making a celebrity sex tape is not just a 21st century phenomenon -- a sex film that purports to show a young Marilyn Monroe is about to hit the auction block.

According to a report in the New York Daily News, a collector in Buenos Aires claims to have an 8-mm film that he says captures Monroe in the act. He said the film was shot before 1947, before Monroe turned 21 and was still a nobody named Norma Jean Baker.

"This film shows the real Marilyn Monroe," Mikel Barsa said.

However, that opinion is not universally shared.

"That's not Marilyn," said Monroe memorabilia collector Scott Fortner. "The chin is not the same, the lips are not the same, the teeth are not the same."

Barsa shrugged off such talk. "People with romantic notions have denied that it's Marilyn Monroe, and have invented stories to raise doubts about the film."

Barsa said his film is an exact copy of a 16-mm film discovered in 1997. He said it's not surprising that the films are in different formats, noting that sex films were often shot with two cameras back in the day.

A European magazine owned that film and sold 600,000 copies of it before a collector bought the original for $1.2 million.

Barsa hopes his six and a half minute film brings him at least $500,000 when it goes on auction on August 7.
