It has been officially confirmed that Adele has recorded the theme song for the upcoming James Bond Skyfall film. Not only has Adele recorded the song, but it will be available Thursday (October 4) for download!
The song will premiere on the 50th anniversary of the James Bond film franchise’s debut on Friday October 5 at 0:07 London time (or in the case of the US Thursday October 4 at 7:07 pm ET). Fans can pre-order the track now, via iTunes and then download when it officially becomes available through Adele’s official website.
Paul Epworth produced the track, which features a 77 piece orchestra.
Adele said in a statement:
“I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for Skyfall. Theres a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song. But I fell in love with the script and Paul had some great ideas for the track and it ended up being a bit of a no-brainer to do it in the end… It was also a lot of fun writing to a brief, something I’ve never done which made it exciting. When we recorded the strings, it was one of the proudest moments of my life. I’ll be back combing my hair when I’m 60 telling people I was a Bond girl back in the day, I’m sure!”
Adele now joins the ranks of other musicians who have recorded Bond songs, like Paul McCartney, Nancy Sinatra, and Madonna.
The film hits U.S. theaters on November 9 and will premiere in the U.K. on October 26.
