Actress Tippi Hedren Wins $1.5 Million Lawsuit After Water Falls On Her Head

“The Birds” actress Tippi Hedren won a long court battle on Monday and received $1.5 million over a gallon of water that fell on her head in 2006.

The now 83-year-old actress was rehearsing for the now defunct MyNetworkTV soap opera “Fashion House” when a gallon of water fell on her head. She claimed the water caused her “terrible headaches” that prevented her from taking jobs.

Hedren initially lost the lawsuit against the owner and lessee of Studio Segal Studio on a technicality due to an error her lawyer, Joseph Allen, made. The error did not allow the lawsuit to move forward and Hedren lost.

Unfortunately for Allen, his former client then decided to slam him with a lawsuit for malpractice. Hedren won the amount of her lost earnings. The jury awarded her $1,483,708.

Allen appealed the case, claiming “Hedren’s own hectic lifestyle was to blame for her injuries and that her employer was negligent,” according to the Daily Mail.

But a California appeals court upheld the decision in Hedren’s favor.

The veteran actress is best known for her role in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1963 “The Birds,” where she dodged an attack of killer birds. Ironically, the incident that resulted in her being drenched and subsequent headaches may have been caused by a bird’s nest that blocked air conditioning from circulating and caused water to accumulate, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
