Actor David Cross: I Did Cocaine with Obama Nearby

| by Mark Berman Opposing Views

Actor and comedian David Cross is admitting that he used cocaine during a White House dinner with President Obama sitting just a few feet away.

The New York Daily News reports that Cross has told the story during standup routines, but audiences were never sure if he was just joking or not. But now Cross tells Playboy magazine that it is very true.

“I ducked under the table and did it," he said of the 2009 incident. "It wasn’t like I got high. The jolt was similar to licking an empty espresso cup. It wasn't about that. It was just about being able to say that I did it, that I did cocaine in the same room as the president.”

The 47-year-old Cross wasn't even invited to the dinner -- it was his girlfriend, actress Amber Tamblyn who got the coveted invite. He said he does feel bad that his action has gotten his 28-year-old girlfriend banned from the White House.

“I was her date, her plus-one, and she got dragged through the mud because of what I did,” he said. “She had nothing to do with it. She didn’t know I was going to do it. And because of that, she’ll never be invited to the White House again. That’s not cool.”
