Deborah Raffin of "7th Heaven" Dead at 59

Deborah Raffin, a former model and actress, died at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center on Wednesday after being diagnosed with blood cancer last year.

Raffin appeared in the television series “7th Heaven” and the mini-series “Noble House” and also starred in several movies.

Deborah was the daughter of 20th Century Fox contract player Trudy Marshall, starring in movies such as “Forty Carats” and “Once Is Not Enough.” She also starred in television miniseries, most notably playing actress Brooke Hayward in “Haywire” and a businesswoman in “Noble House,” based on the James Clavell saga set in Hong Kong.

Most of us remember Raffin best as Aunt Julie on the series “7th Heaven” with Jessica Biel or for her role on “The Secret Life of the American Teenager”.

She also had parts in the cult films “Death Wish 3″ and “Scanners 2″.

Deborah Raffin will also be remembered for her audio books. It started as a hobby for her and her husband Michael Viner (who passed in 2009) in the 1980s, but their Dove audio books grew into a multimillion-dollar business.

They sold audio books of Sidney Sheldon’s bestseller “The Naked Face” to Stephen Hawking’s “A Brief History of Time”, which was their first best seller.

Deborah is survived by her brother, William, a sister, Judy Holston, and a daughter, Taylor Rose Viner.
