Emma Watson Talks Ron-Hermione Kiss in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows"

Emma Watson believes her kiss with co-star Rupert Grint in the final film of the Harry Potter series will be the “most anticipated kiss in history.”

The 21-year-old British actress, who has played Hermione Granger in the franchise since she was 10-years-old, says she and Grint (Ron Weasley), decided early on that the kiss had to be special.

Speaking during an interview with ITV’s Daybreak, Watson spoke about the much-anticipated kiss with her long-time co-star, saying: “I think we did alright. I think that’s like the most anticipated kiss in history. We’ve been building tension to this moment for like eight movies”

Watson said the pair felt the pressure of the scene, despite having acted alongside each other since Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in 2001.

“We were like, ‘People have been really waiting for this moment, and we’ve really got to pull this off.’ And I was like ‘yes, I know. What are we going to do?”‘

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 is set to premiere in London on Thursday.

Watson also says she felt incredibly emotional when filing her final scenes for the movie.

“It was so strange … I kind of felt quite numb, I couldn’t really – it doesn’t seem like your feeling anything,” she says. “And it was when they said, ‘That’s Emma down and Rupert wrapped,’ on ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’, and it just hit me and it was incredibly emotional obviously.

“I cried, cried, cried, cried, cried – it was really emotional and overwhelming.”

While the actress grieved for Harry Potter, Watson is now looking to her future, and taking on new roles – so long as they don’t turn into more 12-year projects.

“I mean it’s so funny, when I’ve signed on for other projects, other things, people don’t really understand why I get quite jumpy and quite concerned and I think it’s because I’ve signed on for one thing and it turns into a 12-year project. And I realise that everything else won’t be like that, but I just can’t believe what it turned into.”

While many former child stars may be concerned about being typecast in the role that made them famous, Watson says she isn’t worried about it.

“If I’m going to be associated with anything, I’m so thrilled that it would be her and it would be this.”

I love how grounded this girl is. She’s one of the richest teenagers in the world, yet she still holds her values close and has a firm head on her shoulder. She really is quite the role model for young girls!
