Drug Czar Responds to Outraged Marijuana Supporters

Last week, several thousand MPP members called and e-mailed the White House to express outrage at drug czar Gil Kerlikowske’s statement that “marijuana is dangerous and has no medical benefit.” A big thanks to everyone who took action!

This week, the White House started sending out a form letter in response to our concerns. As you can see from the letter, the old half-truths and outright lies from the Bush administration still infect the drug czar’s position on marijuana.

The letter essentially hides behind a 2006 statement from the FDA, which claims, “No sound scientific studies have supported medical use of smoked marijuana.” There are two problems with this: First, it’s not true. On MPP’s Web site, we’ve posted numerous studies that support marijuana’s medical efficacy. Second, the statement is widely recognized as untrue. When the FDA released it in 2006, health experts and newspaper editorial boards around the country immediately denounced the position as political and unscientific.

The letter also goes to great lengths to frame the issue around “smoked marijuana.” This is a classic tactic used by prohibitionists to link medical marijuana with smoking. However, many medical marijuana patients these days are vaporizing or simply eating marijuana, two delivery methods that virtually eliminate the health risks associated with smoking.

If it was really a war,we would be fighting back. The only ones wanting war are the ones in the black body armor with DEA on the back.
And our drug czar asks America to trust the police ,while he still lies,
and gets paid for it. Trust is a road that once lost,is nearly impossible to get back on. And to continue the same propaganda
the ONDCP has used for years,is not the way to earn trust.
We,the marijuana users know of the many lies, skewed studies and
stupid ads we have been subjected to for decades and the rest of America is finding out,and the ONDCP and the feds realize they have gone too far, with nothing to show for it except some people getting rich from keeping drugs illegal.
Their next scam will be rehab centers, that the drug user and his family have to pay for, house arrest ,large fines and community
service.
They will still be making big business rich, because that is who will build these rehab centers. All over America.

The Drug War Warriors are not wearing DEA jackets and we are fighting back. Check out www.cdc.coop , participate and don't be late.

Find the resources to track the property theft that L.E.O participate in during large pot busts. Track the money , find the property, put corrupt LEO in their own jails.

Prisons are run by private industry and so will the rehab centers. They pimp on the down and desperate humans in our society with fines and jail time.

Decrim exists as a new revenue stream for law enforcement. Legalize and stop the lies.

No worries, I dont think it matters really what the Czar or the President or anybody for that matter thinks. As long as states keep up the pace and states keep jumping on board, it will happen. It will happen with or without the support of the Czar and President. We are at 25% of the states now, once we are at 50% I would venture to guess that it will be all over for the prohibitionists and the laws of numbers come into play and not a whole lot the feds will be able to really do about it then. Unless, they take away the right of the states to govern themselves.
