Democrats Define Child Molesters as Gay
Catholic League president Bill Donohue explains this unusual headline:
“The House of Representatives will vote this week, possibly tomorrow, on a hate crimes bill championed by gay groups that includes pedophiles under the rubric of sexual orientation. This is the ultimate confession: liberal Democrats think of pedophiles as indistinguishable from homosexuals.
“When this subject came up last week in the House Judiciary Committee, an amendment to the hate crimes bill that would have excluded pedophilia from the definition of sexual orientation was defeated by Democrats along party lines, 13-10. This was considered good news by gay organizations like the Human Rights Campaign, left-wing groups like the ACLU and various Jewish groups like the ADL.
“The debate is over: for liberals, child molesters should be given the same rights as homosexuals. Moreover, they should be given more rights than pregnant women and veterans; the latter two categories were explicitly denied coverage under the hate crimes bill. Even worse, an amendment that would bar prosecution based in whole or in part on religious beliefs quoted from the Bible, the Tanakh (Judaism’s sacred book) or the Koran was defeated by Democrats along party lines, 11-8. In other words, religious speech may be denied First Amendment protection.
“There would be national outrage over this if the media were to report on it and the public were allowed to weigh in on it. But the clock is ticking and freedom and morality are hanging in the balance.”

Why should you be able to self-accuse someone of being a pedophile then assault them. Do you think you have the right to take the law into your own self-righteous hands? This hate-crimes legislation says nothing about making the molestation of children less of a heinous crime than it is. It does nothing to diminish prosecutions of that horrible crime. This simply says that thugs and bullies do not have the right to use their fantasies of child abuse as an pretext to beat people to death without facing heightened penalties. All of you who support lynch mobs please stand up.
To me, the larger issue is why this type of legislation is needed at all.
Violent crimes should be prosecuted period. Why does the motivation of the criminal matter.
Crime is crime . Prosecute and move on.

As far as I know there aren't many people who would commit a hate crime against a pregnant woman. But what does everyone think about the veterans? Should they be excluded? Seems to me they shouldn't be. Home should not equal hostile territory.

Fortunately the "support our troops" movement has taken away the majority of hostility toward our returning veterans. (Especially those who return with well deserved purple hearts) In any case it's the extremists that should be worried about. A friend and I were out one day in Provo minding our own business when he was accosted by some anti-war protesters because of his "semper fi" t-shirt. Luckily they knew better than to mess with a marine but that situation could have easily gone the other way. Now had it gone south would, or should, the judge consider their motives for starting the fight? Would we claim they had something against him for being a marine or something against the war and he was just the unfortunate manifestation of their hate?
They're not defining Child Molesters as gay. Making it a federal hate crime to harm someone for being a child molester or gay doesn't imply the two are equated -- only that such people are equally protected.
What a blatent twisting of words and facts to fit one's opinion.
Sexual orientation does not equal gay. EVERYONE has a sexual orientation, and some people's orientation includes a predeliction for little kids. Statistics consistently show those people tend to be straight.
The point of the legislation is that it is not OK to commit a violent crime against someone because of their sexual orientation, regardless of what it is. I would think even the most conservative Catholic could agree with that.
You would need to be a special kind of stupid to believe this twisted logic.
Statistics show And Prove that Pedos are not homosexuals but rather Heterosexuals. The majority of sex crimes against children are committed by family members, relatives, and married persons, each a heterosexual ! Granted that there are a few who are gay/homosexual who do commit such crimes, but they are in the minority here. If anything, we should then deny any heterosexual from adoption , marriage, or being teachers! Fact from the American Psychiatric Assoc. That any one can go to the web site and read!
