Delaware Senate Unanimously Passes Right-to-Carry Gun Bill

| by NRA

The Delaware Senate unanimously passed House Bill 258 yesterday afternoon.  The bill now heads to the desk of Governor Jack Markell (D) for his consideration.

HB258 would extend the validity of a concealed carry permit from 2 years to 3 years for initial licenses and 3 years to 5 years for renewal licenses.

Special thanks to all of the sponsors of HB258: State Representatives John Atkins (D-41), William Carson (D-28), Robert Gilligan (D-19), Michael Mulrooney (D-17), Peter Schwartzkopf (D-14), Robert Walls (D-33) and State Senator Bruce Ennis (D-14).  We would especially like to thank State Senator Nancy Cook (D-15), who shepherded the bill through the Senate Finance Committee and on to the floor.

Thanks are also due to all of the NRA members who answered the call in support of HB258.  Several Senators noted that they had received e-mails and telephone calls from NRA members.

The fight to pass HB258 is not yet over.  Please contact Governor Markell TODAY and respectfully urge him to sign HB258 into law.  The Governor can be reached by phone at (302) 744-4101 or (302) 577-3210.  Please visit http://smu.governor.delaware.gov/cgi-bin/mail.php?contact to send email.
