Dan Wheldon Wins Indy 500; Complete Results

Experience won out at the end as Dan Wheldon earned his second Indianapolis 500 victory in thrilling fashion on Sunday. In a dramatic sequence, Wheldon was able to overtake J.R. Hildebrand after the rookie slammed into the wall on the fourth turn heading to the checkered flag.

Wheldon’s first Indy 500 win came in 2005 when he drove for Michael Andretti. This time around, he brought the championship home to car owner Bryan Herta in what ends up being the team’s only IndyCar race of the season.
