Though David Arquette admits he’s already slept with another woman since his split with Courteney Cox, the actor hints his wife of 11 years may have also found someone else.
During an interview on Howard Stern’s Sirius Satellite radio show Tuesday, Arquette said he didn’t know if his wife and her “Cougar Town” co-star Brian Van Holt were getting physical, but acknowledged an “emotional affair.”
He added that “part of the terms of our separation was that I was allowed to see other people and so was she.”
This isn’t the first time Van Holt’s name has been brought up in relation to the couple’s problems.
According to RadarOnline.com, the nature of the pair’s relationship was questioned in April after Cox sent her chauffeured limo home and opted to spend the night on the “Cougar Town” set with Van Holt.
“The talk on the set was that she and David had an open marriage,” an on-set source told Radar. “David came to the ‘Cougar Town’ set maybe four or five times over the course of the season, that’s not a lot compared with other actors.”
“Courteney spent a lot of her time on the set with Brian,” the source added.
However, the co-stars' relationship may be nothing but platonic, says Van Holt’s sister, Heather.
“As far as I know they are not romantically involved,” she told Radar. “We are a very close knit family and he is usually very open with me, I’m sure he would have told me.”
Van Holt, who plays Cox’s free-spirited ex-husband on the hit ABC sitcom, is an Illinois native who grew up in California. He got his start in showbiz by winning a modeling contest, which landed him a contract with a Hollywood agency. Following small roles in TV shows such as “Spin City,” “Sex and the City” and “Entourage,” Van Holt got his big break last year with “Cougar Town,” which is produced by Cox and Arquette’s company Coquette Productions.
In the same interview with Stern, Arquette confirmed rumors he has been seeing former cocktail waitress Jasmine Waltz, 28.
The actor told Stern he “did have sex with her one time, maybe twice,” and it made him feel “manly.”
The news of Cox and Arquette’s split broke Monday night, and the couple quickly released a statement acknowledging the separation but also praising their relationship.
“We have agreed to a trial separation that dates back for some time. The reason for this separation is to better understand ourselves and the qualities we need in a partner and for our marriage,” the statement read. “We remain best friends and responsible parents to our daughter and we still love each other deeply.”
