War on Terror

Cheney Still Supports Waterboarding - Do You?

| by DeepDiveAdmin

Vice President Dick Cheney recently sat down with ABC News to discuss his role in the war on terror. When asked about waterboarding and other aggressive interrogation tactics used against suspected terrorists, Cheney told ABC's Jonathan Karl:

"I was aware of the program, certainly, and involved
in helping get the process cleared, as the agency in effect came in and
wanted to know what they could and couldn't do.
And they talked to me, as well as others, to explain what they wanted to do. And I supported it."

When asked if he felt that the methods went too far, Cheney responded, "I don't."

He went on to say that the prison in Guantanamo Bay should be kept open for the duration of the war on terror and continues to insist that invading Iraq was the right thing to do despite an absence of stockpiled weapons.
