It's easy to mistake James Franco for a huge overachiever, what with his dazzling film and music career and his degree in swimming pool management, but don't be taken in, he's as normal as piss on a snowman. For you see, the secret to James' success is in the volume of his work and the niceness of his personality. It all comes back to the old HM adage, if you can't do something brilliantly (the Oscar nom means nothing), then just do lots and lots of it and no-one will notice.
The reason we bring this up is because apparently Franco's now decided to release a book of his own poetry (a winter treat!) and at some point during the recent promotiional trail for his magical tome he decided to talk about his friendship with Lindsay Lohan:
"I had been writing some poems about the Chateau Marmont (hotel in Los Angeles), and one or two of the poems involved Lindsay... I've known Lindsay for a while.
"It was at a moment where it seemed like she was doing okay. We'd have conversations on the phone, and she seemed like she was doing okay…
"I haven't talked to her in a long time because it seemed like she was getting into some more trouble. I've tried to help her."
But back to business. Do you know how hard it is to get a book deal?
"I think one of the reasons it's so hard is when she gets in trouble, she gets all this attention and I'm sure she gets book offers.
"Like, she goes to jail, and instead of feeling like, 'I really hit a low place', she'll get a crazy offer for her jail memoir."
Sounds like someone is a tiny bit jealous Lindsay's probably going back to prison.
