Ryan Gosling Directing Film Starring Ben Mendelsohn and Christina Hendricks

Not only is Ryan Gosling, like, really really ridiculously good looking, he's also really nice to look at. Wait, no, that's not what we wanted to type. We wanted to say that he's also really talented but then we got lost in a seemingly never-ending image search for "Ryan Gosling biceps" and sort of forgot what we were doing. Anyway, though, yes, RYan Gosling is really handsome and talented. And handsome.

It seems that, much like Ben Affleck and George Clooney, Ryan's sick of toting his lovely face in front of the camera, and wants to do a stint behind the camera as a director: his directorial debut How To Catch A Monster starts shooting this spring, for release next year.

For his first feature, it seems Ryan is keeping close to home, casting actors he already knows. So far he has cast Ben Mendelsohn and Christina Hendricks, who he has starred opposite in Beyond The Pines and Drive respectively, and his girlfriend Eva Mendes (who also stars in Beyond The Pines). He's also cast Matt Smith (better known as the man who's in that Doctor Who show your kids like), though, so it's not like he's playing totally safe. This will be Matt's first US acting job.

The film is being described as a fantasy-drama, centring on a single mother (played by Hendricks) who explores a fantastical underworld when her teenage son discovers a secret underwater path. Sounds utterly bonkers, if you ask us. The Gosling himself wrote the screenplay (presumably between admiring his own lovely reflection and admiring his own lovely arms) so we're interested to see how it turns out.

Now, where were we? Oh, yes...biceps.
