Rush Limbaugh: Gay Marriage Marks Decline of Traditional Values, Not His Four Marriages

This week, Rush Limbaugh has been highlighted as a hypocrite for being married four times and still having the gaul to condemn same-sex marriage as the inevitable downfall of traditional marriage and gateway to pedophilia.

According the right-wing radio host, advocates of traditional marriage should hang up their hats because the fight is over as gay Americans will undoubtedly share the same civil liberties as the rest.

“The issue is lost,” he said in a March broadcast. “I don’t care what the Supreme Court does. This is inevitable. And it’s inevitable because we lost the language on this.”

Limbaugh explained it was the language of the gay rights movement  not the substance of the movement or the huge wave of more progressive, younger voters weighing in on election days  that doomed the conservative right to fail in their fight for traditional values.

“As far as I’m concerned, once we started talking about gay marriage, traditional marriage, opposite-sex marriage, same-sex marriage, hetero marriage, we lost. It was over,” Limbaugh said.

Because apparently it is ridiculous to call a life commitment between two people of the same sex a “marriage.” “Marriage” should be reserved only for heterosexuals who, like Limbaugh, could care less about the “life commitment” clause of the term.

Limbaugh has also been criticized for comments he made back in January when he compared gay marriage to pedophilia.

“There is a movement on to normalize pedophilia, and I guarantee you your reaction to that is probably much the same as your reaction when you first heard about gay marriage,” Limbaugh said, perhaps not checking his facts on this so-called movement for pedophilia. There might be a movement to support pedophilia in his neck of the woods, but the rest of America seems to be vehemently against child predators.

“What has happened to gay marriage? It’s become normal — and in fact, with certain people in certain demographics it’s the most important issue in terms of who they vote for,” Limbaugh went on. “So don’t pooh-pooh. There’s a movement to normalize pedophilia. Don’t pooh-pooh it. The people behind it are serious, and you know the left as well as I do. They glom onto something and they don’t let go.”
