Orlando Bloom Going to Broadway

Realizing that nobody wants to see his films anymore, Orlando Bloom is hitting the Broadway stage and will be making his debut in “Romeo And Juliet” this fall.

Bloom will be playing the iconic role of Romeo, and his Juliet will be Broadway vet, Condola Rashad. Rashad is African-American, so it is definitely interesting that director, David Leveaux will be going with an interracial couple. Leveaux states:

“They could have been any number of different ethnicities. The two actors I wanted to be together producing sparks just happened to be those two and I followed my nose in casting the families.”

In the Leveaux’s version, the Montagues will be play by an all-white family and the Capulets will be played by an all-black cast.

It is interesting to see Bloom hit the stage as his movie career isn’t exactly “hot” right now. Casual fans know him from his roles in the Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean franchises, but aside from that, he hasn’t really ever been able to career a movie on his own.

Bloom has been in the news lately for his ‘alleged’ marital difficulties with model, Miranda Kerr.  The rumors have since quieted down, once the couple made sure to be  spotted out and about together with their adorable son, Flynn.

The play will officially open September 19.

What do you think of Bloom making his Broadway debut? Will you watch it?
