Last year at MTV's Video Music Awards (VMA), Miley Cyrus shocked America with her twerking performance.
The singer shocked the audience again this year by sending a homeless man named "Jesse" on stage to accept her "Video of the Year" award, noted Mediaite.com (video below).
Popular VideoEveryone, meet Madeline Stuart. She's the first-ever professional model with Down Syndrome, and she's inspiring millions of people around the world:
“I am accepting this award on behalf of the 1.6 million runaways and homeless youth in the United States who are starving and lost and scared for their lives," said Jesse, reports The New York Times. "I know, because I am one of those people."
“I have survived in shelters all over this city,” added Jesse. “The music industry will make over $7 billion this year, and outside these doors are 54,000 human beings who have no place to call home.”
Jesse later stated, “If you want to make a powerful change in the world right now, join us and go to Miley’s Facebook page."
Cyrus recently posted a video and text on Facebook that read:
