Comedian Joan Rivers had a few “health tips” for singer Adele over the weekend, telling HuffPost Live that she thinks Adele needs to lose some weight—again.
“She’s a chubby leady who’s very, very rich, and she should just calm down—or lose weight!” Rivers said in the interview. “She wanted an apology, so I took an ad out on her ass. I said, ‘You are not fat.’ And then I had room for a lot of other ads.”
The apology Rivers references is in regards to a previous attack she made on Adele about her weight on her February 26 appearance on David Letterman.
“She was very scared because she was singing at the awards,” Rivers said about Adele’s Skyfall theme song performance at the Oscars. “She kept saying, ‘My throat, my throat—I don’t know if I can swallow.’ And I said, ‘Oh, yeah! You can swallow.’”
Rivers also taunted Adele after she gave birth last fall, posting on her Twitter account, “Congratulations to Adele on the birth of her 68 pound 8 ounces bouncing baby boy.”
Adele can take a little bit of comfort in the fact that Rivers is somewhat notorious for mocking celebrities about their weight. She called Christina Aguilera a pig when she forgot the lyrics to the National Anthem during the 2011 SuperBowl game.
“She looked like a pig,” Rivers said about Aguilera. “How stupid can you get? Christina must have been thinking about foot. That’s why she forgot the words.”
