'I’m as Much of a Homophobe as Jesus Was' Says Phil Robertson (Video)

"Duck Dynasty" TV reality star Phil Robertson has come out with a new book "unPHILtered: The Way I See It," which he plugged this morning, but not without controversy.

In an interview with GQ magazine last year, Robertson claimed that black people were "happy" living under racist Jim Crow laws and that he "never saw blacks mistreated." In the same interview, Robertson compared homosexuality to bestiality.

Robertson was asked about his anti-gay comments on ABC's "Good Morning America" today (video below).

"I just said, ‘Whether it be bestiality.' I could've said pedophilia, rape, homosexual sin, heterosexual sin. To me, I was just letting them know they're all the same, just sin," stated Robertson, noted ABC News.

Robertson added, "I’m as much of a homophobe as Jesus was. People who are participating in homosexual behavior, they need to know that I love them.”

Jesus didn't mention homosexuality or homosexuals in the Bible, but there are many verses in Old and New Testaments condemning homosexuality.

When asked about his Jim Crow comments, Robertson said, "There is one race, one race on this planet. It’s called the human race, we’re all the same. To me, there is absolutely nothing that has color to do with it,” reports Talking Points Memo.

Robertson then assured Americans that he was not aware of their objections to his comments because he doesn't own a cell phone or a computer, but also admitted that his new book clarifies the controversy (that he was apparently not aware of).
