Former NBA player Dennis Rodman recently told North Korea dictator Kim Jong Un, "You have a friend for life,â€ť during a strange trip that ignored the suffering of the North Korean people under Jong Un.
According to the Washington Post, Rodman spent several days in North Korea with a camera crew from VICE and three members of the Harlem Globetrotters to film an episode of an upcoming HBO series.
Rodman sat with the dictator to enjoy a performance of the Globetrotters in Pyongyang stadium, before going back to Jong Unâ€™s palace, where he reportedly â€śplied the groupâ€ť with food and alcohol.
The Washington Post reports:
The two chatted in English, but Kim primarily spoke in Korean through a translator, [VICE founder Shane] Smith said after speaking to the VICE crew in Pyongyang.

â€śThey bonded during the game,â€ť Smith said by telephone from New York after speaking to the crew. â€śThey were both enjoying the crazy shots, and the Harlem Globetrotters were putting on quite a show.â€ť
Rodman made no mention of the suffering of the North Korean people, whom he claimed to "love" in a Twitter post.
