Dennis Rodman Calls Brutal North Korea Dictator Kim Jong Un a 'Friend For Life'

Former NBA player Dennis Rodman recently told North Korea dictator Kim Jong Un, "You have a friend for life,” during a strange trip that ignored the suffering of the North Korean people under Jong Un.

According to the Washington Post, Rodman spent several days in North Korea with a camera crew from VICE and three members of the Harlem Globetrotters to film an episode of an upcoming HBO series.

Rodman sat with the dictator to enjoy a performance of the Globetrotters in Pyongyang stadium, before going back to Jong Un’s palace, where he reportedly “plied the group” with food and alcohol.

The Washington Post reports:

The two chatted in English, but Kim primarily spoke in Korean through a translator, [VICE founder Shane] Smith said after speaking to the VICE crew in Pyongyang.

“They bonded during the game,” Smith said by telephone from New York after speaking to the crew. “They were both enjoying the crazy shots, and the Harlem Globetrotters were putting on quite a show.”

Rodman made no mention of the suffering of the North Korean people, whom he claimed to "love" in a Twitter post.
