Conservatives Slam Gay Marriages on Grammy Awards

| by Michael Allen

Pop singer/rapper Macklemore led a mass wedding, which included straight and gay couples, during his performance of “Same Love” on the Grammy Awards last night.

Queen Latifah, deputized by Los Angeles County, officiated the mass wedding, after which Madonna chimed in with her 1980s hit "Open Your Heart."

According to The New York Times, 33 couples got married, which was followed by smiles and tears onstage.

However, the mass wedding was met with anger and disgust by several conservatives.

MediaMatters.org reports that Fox News' Todd Starnes tweeted, "This was not about marriage. This was about bashing God and the church." Starnes also called the mass marriage "sick."

American Family Association executive director Bryan Fischer tweeted, “Heads Up: Grammy Telecast To Feature Sodomy-Based Wedding Ceremonies.”

"The 2014 Grammy Awards fired off a culture war missile aimed at those who believe in a traditional definition of marriage," reported BreitBart.com.

Newsbusters.org added, "They can say this is not a stunt, but that's exactly what it is, a piece of musical agitprop to mock the traditional values of conservative American Christians, Jews, Muslims, and others."
