Novelist Ayelet Waldman recently warned the Internet after her 11-year-old son lost $120 playing the popular smartphone game “Kim Kardashian: Hollywood.”
Waldman wrote on social media sites on Sunday how her son Abe lost $120 on the app, which earns $700,000 a day, reports TechTimes.com.
Waldman wrote on Facebook:
WARNING parents. The Kardashian Hollywood game somehow bypassed our parental in-app purchase controls. Our poor 11 year old spent $120 in 2 days. He’s crying hysterically. He can’t believe he lost so much money. A pox on those vile scumbag Kardashian pigs and their app designers.
Why is the Kardashian app such a high earner? Because it preys on children who don't know how much it's stealing from them. Pure evil.
“Kim Kardashian: Hollywood” is free to download, but offers multiple in-app purchases, which Abe spent the money on, noted Page Six. The in-app purchases are expensive clothes, hairstyles and photo shoots for an user's avatar.
Waldman and her husband, writer Michael Chabon, say they had limited their child's phone to $20-a-month in spending, but Waldman says “Kim Kardashian: Hollywood” bypassed that limit and charged the family credit card for $120.
After warning parents on the web, Waldman got a $120 refund from Apple where the app is downloaded.
Waldman happily reported that her son no longer likes the Kardashians.
