Sarah Palin. "Jersey Shore" star "The Situation." Lindsay Lohan. As if these celebrities weren't obnoxious enough already, now they can express their inane opinions and misguided beliefs to the entire world any time they choose - through Twitter, in bite-sized portions of 140 characters or less. Pop culture site PopCrunch has compiled a list of the 15 most annoying Twittering celebs. Here's a sampling of the most irritating stars on the Internet today.
Tila Tequila: This Z-list "singer" ascended to fame by amassing a giant army of Myspace followers, so she's well versed in using the Internet to her advantage. And use it she does: we get to hear about every aspect of her ridiculous activities. When she got dung thrown at her onstage by Insane Clown Posse fans, we heard about it. When she got engaged to heiress Casey Johnson as a publicity stunt, we heard about it. When she pretended she was adopting a baby boy from Russia, she made sure we all heard about it. As PopCrunch says, "That's a whole lot of crazy in one package."
John Mayer: The singer's well known for his attacks of verbal diarrhea, from his ill-advised "hood pass" comments to his blabbing about his sex life with ex-girlfriend Jessica Simpson. He was a very active Tweeter until recently, when he decided to close his account. Some of his more memorable tweets include: "I wonder how much money it costs to get my name on an arena. I want to play the Horsehung Awesome Listener Center," and "Good Lord, when is this massage going to END?"
Sarah Palin: It's already pretty easy to be annoyed by Sarah Palin. Want to work yourself up into a frothing rage? Check out her Twitter account. One of her tweets read, "'Refudiate,' 'misunderestimate,' 'wee-wee'd up.' English is a living language. Shakespeare liked to coin new words too. Got to celebrate it!" The only thing worth celebrating here, I think, is that we all have the ability to hit the "unfollow" button and banish Sarah Palin's Twitter feed from our eyes once and for all.
Popular VideoThis young teenage singer was shocked when Keith Urban invited her on stage at his concert. A few moments later, he made her wildest dreams come true.
I must disagree, however, with PopCrunch's inclusion of Courtney Love on this list. While it's true that she's obviously crazy as a loon, there's something very eloquent and entertaining - and sad - about the avalanche of tweets she produces every day. Her outpouring of grief, anger and love to estranged daughter Frances Bean Cobain on Frances' 18th birthday is worth a read.
Another must-read Twitter feed: Gary Busey. Again, totally insane, and completely hilarious. Examples: "I like to think that the people who put cars in their profile picture are really Transformers," and "I heard @ChrisBrown sing a song about throwing "deuces" and, if he's talking about throwing feces, I want in on that action."
