CDC and APHA Publish Definitive Asthma Report

| by APHA

"Four thousand people die each year from asthmarelated causes, and asthma is a contributing factor in another 7,000 deaths every year.

"In asthma, something—air pollution, allergens, exercise, stress, certain chemicals in the workplace—causes the airways of the lungs to narrow or become blocked, making it hard to breathe."

Those are the opening words of "America Breathing Easier", a new publication published in a joint effort by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the American Public Health Association (APHA). For the millions of Americans suffering from asthma and the health workers who help them, the publication is a valuable resource detailing the causes behind asthma, risk factors and treatment options.
