Can You Be Sued Over Your Thanksgiving Feast?
It’s Thanksgiving time again, and we’re reminding dinner hosts that they should make sure their guests sign our Thanksgiving Liability Waiver. Why? Because you never know when a food feast will turn into a litigation frenzy.
We were on the Fox News and Fox Business channels yesterday, explaining how trial lawyers are looking for their own feast this holiday season, and how our waiver can ensure a lawsuit-free meal. (You can download your very own copy of the waiver here.) As we’re telling the media this turkey day, Americans should cover their bases:
With
this waiver, Thanksgiving dinner hosts can keep the nutritional
puritans out of their dining room. They can also protect themselves
from over-stuffed lawsuits filed by attorneys who threaten to sue
restaurants, food companies, school boards, doctors, and even parents
for the nation's extra pounds.During this season when food
cops, public health zealots, and trial lawyers are promoting hysteria
about the nation's expanding waistline, the Center for Consumer Freedom
believes that Thanksgiving should remain a holiday for giving thanks,
carving turkey, and indulging in a bountiful harvest.

Stupid? Almost as stupid as someone who would sue for stuffing their own stupid faces and then complaining about how many pounds they put on after the fact. It reminds me of the case against McDonalds because it "causes" obesity . In some minds, someone else is responsible / liable for their self-control - anyone but themselves.
As far as I know, every state in the union has passed statutes that unconditionally bar any claim based on damages caused by over eating. In other words, CCF's claims of potential liability are just plain fraudulent.
It is interesting to note, however, their waiver is broad enough in places to include damages caused by food born pathogens and toxins, which may be why they suggest commercial enterprises use this half baked farce. According to the CDC, over 300,000 Americans are hospitalized each and every year as a result of food borne illness and 5,000 of them die. Negligent food handling practices by restaurants is the leading cause of these deaths .
Wouldn't it be grand if a restaurant could wipe out an entire family, while bearing no legal responsibility whatsoever? Kind of makes you wonder which side CCF's turkey is basted on.
We were on the Fox News and Fox Business channels yesterday, explaining how 'You can be sued over your thanksgiving dinner, even though that's the stupidest crap ever'.
Look up the word zealout before you continue to use it, would ya? Public health zealot? Wow, like that's as bad as Peace on Earth zealots and Cure for Cancer zealots!
It is strange how fox news always talks about stuff like that... but I have never heard of an actual example of such a lawsuit coming before a judge.
I think I just got sick from the load of crap CCF dished out here. Where can I sign up for the class action against them?
