Can Obama Reduce Abortions Without Calling them Wrong?
As it has met with dozens of abortion-rights supporters and opponents in recent weeks to collect ideas for a "common ground" approach on abortion and related reproductive issues, the Obama administration has emphasized that it intends to avoid influencing women's decisions about whether or not to have an abortion.
According to the groups involved, the White House is looking for ways to help pregnant women who want to carry their pregnancies to term without pressuring women to make that choice.
This is what Obama aides mean when they insist that they're working to "reduce the need for abortion," as opposed to reducing abortions per se. The approach absolves the White House of having to make a judgment about the propriety of abortion. It leaves that decision to individual women.
But in articulating a goal of reducing the need for abortion, hasn't the White House already made a judgment about its undesirability? "Let us work together to reduce the number of women seeking abortions,"
Obama said in his recent speech at the University of Notre Dame. Why reduce the number of women seeking abortions if there's nothing wrong with the procedure?

Does anyone really think that an abortion is desireable? I know absolutely noone who hopes to get pregnant just so they can schedule an appointment for an abortion. With rare exception does anyone talk about abortion gleefully.
"Why reduce the number of women seeking abortions if there's nothing wrong with the procedure?" To frame the argument in this fashion is not to elicit intelligent debate, but to stir the emotions of the target audience whom are already opposed to abortion entirely. But that has always been the only method known to groups such as the FRC.
"It leaves that decision to individual women." How dare we allow an individual to decide for themself if it flies in the face of the religious. Enough already. The evangelicals have played this card for almost 30 years with limited success. It is purely a political issue to these groups and one that is no longer gaining traction.
It is unfortunate that the majority of persons opposed to abortion also appear to be opposed to contraception.
You guys might have already seen this video on youtube but if not you MUST see it. Its amazing! Made just out of Amarillo Texas. You go boys!

One of the most effective ways to reduce the number of abortions taking place is to promote the use of birth control (the pill, condoms, etc).
In helping women, and men, to develop birth control strategies we reduce the number of pregnancies that will be terminated.
In the last weeks we saw how a person killed a person over abortion .
Why dont we just put this to rest.I would say most poeple would like to see less abortions.
Obama is just not influencing women's decisions about whether or not to have an abortion
Whats wrong with that if your prochoice?
And if your prolife you can see Obama is not all that bad.
