The thing with douchebags is that they tend to be douchebags in many walks of life. Plaxico Burress is an idiot for a variety of reasons, but mainly because he thought it was a good idea to take an unlicensed handgun to a New York City nightclub. And because he didn’t know how to carry it or use it, he shot himself in the leg, landing himself a couple years in prison.
That was pretty stupid. But, Burress is also a d**k because he made an agreement with punter Jeff Feagles when he signed with the New York Giants. Feagles wore #17 at the time and Burress wanted that number because he signed with the team on March 17th.
Feagles told Burress he could have the number, but he wanted the receiver to help with his outdoor kitchen.
“I said, ‘you know what, why don’t we do the same deal that I did with Eli,’” Feagles said, referring to the Florida vacation that Eli Manning bought him in order to get his #10 in 2004. “Except I’m kind of re-doing my outdoor kitchen, so I basically told him if he could pay for it we’d be good.”
The problem? Burress never paid up.
“I never got paid for it,” Feagles said. “I asked [Burress] for it. Every time I went to Drew he said, ‘That’s between you and Plax.’ Bottom line, I never got paid. He basically stole my number.”
The Giants asked Feagles this spring if he wanted the number back.
“I basically re-possessed it,” Feagles joked. “I told the team, ‘Listen, I’ve got to restore the image, its obviously been tarnished.’ I told them it’d be fine.”
Plaxico, careful who you stiff in prison.
