Bulls Derrick Rose Wins NBA MVP; Complete Voting Results

History was made today when the league announced Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose is the winner of the Maurice Podoloff Trophy and the 2011 NBA Most Valuable Player. At 22 years old, Rose becomes the youngest player in the history of the league to earn this honor.

When it was all said and done, Rose racked up 1,182 points from a panel 120 voting sportswriters and broadcasters throughout the U.S. and Canada, as well as a fan vote. Players were awarded 10 points for every first-place vote, seven for every second-place vote, five for every third-place vote, three for fourth and one for fifth.

With 113 first-place votes, Rose was the runaway winner this year. Behind him in the top five were Dwight Howard, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant.

Rose now becomes the first player since Steve Nash in 2005 to win the MVP after not garnering any votes in the prior year.

For the season, the Bulls superstar averaged 25 points, 7.7 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game.
