Bristol Palin Calls Abstinence Unrealistic in Fox Interview

In her first televised interview since giving birth to her son, Tripp, Bristol Palin, the daughter of former vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, sat down with Fox News' Greta Van Susteren to talk about the pregnancy that thrust her into the national spotlight.

While insisting that she has no regrets about becoming a mother at 18, she did say that at times motherhood was overwhelming. "I wish it could happen in ten years, so I could have a job and an education a be prepared and have my own house," she said.

Bristol Palin's pregnancy ignited a nationwide debate over abstinence education and teen pregnancy. When asked about her views on contraception and sex education, she said that abstinence-only is "not realistic at all" that she hopes to become an advocate for the prevention of teen pregnancy.
