Brad Pitt, star of the Cannes-winning movie The Tree of Life is on the promotional trail.
As to be expected, a recent interview with USA Today turned to the question of love and marriage with partner Angelina Jolie. He is 47 and father to six children, when can wedding bells be expected?
Here’s what Pitt had to say….
“Kids hold up a mirror to you,” he says of his children, Maddox, 9, Zahara, 6, Pax, 7, Shiloh, 5, and twins Vivienne and Knox, 2. “You can’t make excuses. You’ve got to make sure they’ve brushed their teeth and eaten a good breakfast. You want to be present if they wake up with a bad dream.”
Popular VideoThis judge looked an inmate square in the eyes and did something that left the entire courtroom in tears:
Most children have the freedom to roam free. For the Pitt-Jolie clan, no such option exists. Pitt explains: “We’re hunted,” he says. “Our kids have to live behind a gate. Outside, there are people with cameras. But I’ll take the trade-off. I never knew I was capable of experiencing so much love.”
As for wedding bells? Pitt and Jolie have previously been quite emphatic they will not entertain the idea until all couples, including same sex couples, are free to wed.
That idealistic stance may have to change, which Pitt acknowledges. They have six children who are hounding for a wedding day. He says: “The kids ask about marriage. It’s meaning more and more to them. So it’s something we’ve got to look at.”
The family are known for their nomadic lifestyle. One can only imagine the logistics of packing. Pitt says: “On the road, we’re a military mobile unit. The kids have got their stuff down to one backpack, and they’re each responsible for their own bag. Mom does the packing; she’s quite gifted at that. Puts in just what we need — nothing extra.”
Pitt and Jolie may not have the luxury of frequent date nights, but that doesn’t stop them having some Mummy and Daddy romance, apparently. Pitt divulges: “There are no secrets at our house. We tell the kids, ‘Mom and Dad are going off to kiss.’ They go, ‘Eww, gross!’ But we demand it.”
I’m with you kids. Eww, gross. Too much information!
Oh, the scandal!
