A body was found Tuesday afternoon in the Southern California neighborhood where Norma Lopez was last seen last week. Police are not saying yet whether the body is indeed that of the 17-year-old girl.

A resident found the body at about 3pm Tuesday. The location is about three miles from the field where police found personal items belonging to Norma. So far police have not said whether the body is male or female.

Norma was on her way home from summer school in Moreno Valley, east of Los Angeles last Thursday, when she took her usual shortcut through the field. When she didn't return home, her sister and a friend looked for her. After a few hours, they called police, who found the items in the field.

Police say there were signs of a struggle, and that it appeared Norma was kidnapped.
