Audio and Transcript of Blago's Intercepted Calls

| by DeepDiveAdmin

Yesterday the Illinois State Senate continued its impeachment trial of Gov. Rod Blagojevich, hearing new evidence in a widespread corruption case. While the now infamous governor has apparently decided to boycott the impeachment trial in favor of a nationwide media tour, for a few moments at least his voice could be heard booming through the Senate chambers.

The charges against Blagojevich stemmed from a months-long FBI investigation that most notoriously included taped phone calls. Those recorded phone calls were played for the first time yesterday as part of the impeachment trial and detailed an alleged plot to squeeze race track owners for campaign contributions in return for the passage of favorable legislation.

Now that the State Senate has heard the evidence, the Illinois General Assembly has released audio and transcripts of the wire-tapped phone conversations. To listen to and read the intercepted calls, click here.
