Animals should be kept in zoos because zoos provide education and conservation. Zoos today aren't advertised as a place for entertainment! Zoos do not encourage bad treatment of animals! Moreover, they provide a direct experience of other species that will increase ecological awareness. Animals can be and should be studied in the wild but they can be studied more closely and safely, and over a more sustained period of time in captivity. The reason most schools take children to zoos is to teach them about nature, the environment, endangered species, and conservation.
