A country Yoga retreat located on eighty-five wooded acres in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, just over one hour northwest of New York City, Ananda Ashram offers a perfect environment for learning. Our six-day-a-week trainings, held Tuesdays through Sundays, May 17 – June 19 and again July 26 – August 28, are led by School of Hatha Yoga faculty and Ananda Ashram teachers taught directly by Founder Shri Brahmananda Sarasvati. The program includes daily Hatha Yoga classes, meditation, introduction to Sanskrit, anatomy and physiology, philosophy, teaching practice and application, and study of Patanjali’s Yoga Sûtras and the Bhagavad Gîtâ. A special feature of both courses is the two-day Vinyâsa Krama & Prâñâyâma workshop by special guest teacher Srivatsa Ramaswami, a thirty-year student of the legendary Sri T. Krishnamacharya.
The serene, natural setting of Ananda Ashram provides the opportunity for an unparalleled direct experience of the true essence of Yoga. The inspiring teachers and staff offer a unique set of talents to share with participants. The course combines superb technical training with an authentic Yoga experience.
