New App: Find Vegetarian Foods by Scanning Nutrition Labels

| by PETA

Not sure if those munchies at the supermarket are vegan? Now the iPhone has your answer. Thanks to a new iPhone 3GS app, finding vegan eats is a snap. Just take a picture of any food label, and Vegetarian Scanner will scan the list to determine if the product contains any animal-derived ingredients.

But wait, there's more. At just $1.99, Vegetarian Scanner also allows iPod Touch, iPhone 2G or 3G, and iPad users to search and browse a database of food additives, so that they too can avoid noshing on any nasty ingredients.
