American Idol 2010: The Winner Is...

| by

Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze in school uniforms?? What better way to start the 2010 Season Finale of American Idol than with "School’s Out?" The top 12 finalists performed the song in their school uniforms joined by Alice Cooper.

We already know that less than 2% of the votes separate the finalists. Wow!!

Kris Allen sang "The Truth."

It was Simon Cowell’s last night on American Idol. A tribute to Simon. It sounded like “a cat jumping off the Empire State Building” is feedback we will always remember. Simon was described as supportive. Randi, Kara and Ryan are all jumping for joy (they were just kidding, of course).

Siobhan Magnus and Aaron Kelly were singing ‘How Deep is Your Love’ by the Bee Gees. A classic moment – The Bee Gees just walked on the stage and the four of them performed the song. I can’t even imagine how psyched Siobhan and Aaron were.

Michael Lynche sang ‘Takin It to the Street’ and was joined by Michael McDonald.

Dane Cooke sang a tribute song to Simon. Based on Simon’s face – it’s safe to say he didn’t seem to appreciate the insulting tribute.

Lacey Brown, Katie Stevens, Siobhan Magnus, Crystal Bowersox, Paige Miles and Didi Benami were joined by Christina Aguilera on stage as they sang Beautiful. Christina Aguilera then gave a stunning solo performance of You Lost Me off her new album Bionic.

Lee DeWyze, Kasey James, Michael Lynch, Adam Kelly and Tim Urban were joined on stage by Hall and Oates as they performed their hit You Make My Dreams.

Crystal and Alanis Morissette gave an amazing performance of You Oughta Know.

Carrie Underwood performed Undo It, wearing leather and continued to be perfect. Ryan mentioned that the song was co-written by Kara DioGuardi.

Kris Allen presented Crystal and Lee with the keys to their own custom-designed Fords.

Kasey James performed an acoustic version of Poison’s Every Rose Has Its Thorn and the band kicked in when Bret Michaels walked in!

Lee DeWyze sang a medley with “Chicago” (his hometown and audition city).

PANTS ON THE GROUND! The memorable performance was from The General Larry Platt during the second episode. He reappeared tonight and was joined by William Hung, the She Bangs singer from a few seasons back.

Paula Abdul showed up to say goodbye to Simon. She looked amazing but did an awkward stand-up routine.

The Simon montage tribute was performed by the past Idol winners and some of the other AI alum, and it was set to My Way.

We’re hearing David Cook was booked for a charity event, which is why he wasn’t on stage with the rest of the Idol winners.

The top 12 Idols sing Janet Jackson’s Again. Janet Jackson rolls out with an intergalactic geisha outfit.

After the nationwide vote, the winner of American Idol 2010 is Lee DeWyze!!

American Idol winner Lee closed the show singing Beautiful Day by U2.
