Audio: Father Tom Donovan Calls 911 After Getting Locked in Handcuffs at Church

Father Tom Donovan, of the St. Aloysius Church in Springfield, Illinois, called 911 in November and told an operator that he needed help getting out of a pair of handcuffs (audio below).

Father Donovan told the 911 operator: “I’m going to need help getting out before this becomes a medical emergency.”

The 911 operator asked: “You’re stuck in a pair of handcuffs?”

Father Donovan replied: “Playing with them, so I need some help getting out.”

Donovan told the operator that he was alone in the church’s front office.

When police arrived, they discovered some sort of gag on Donovan, reports the Illinois Times and Mediaite.com.

Bishop Thomas Paprocki reportedly granted Donovan’s recent request for a leave of absence.
