Three members of the University of Southern Mississippi football team are in "fair and stable condition" after being shot early Sunday morning.

Details are still a bit sketchy, but Sgt. Allen Murray of the Hattiesburg Police Department said a dispute took place inside a night club called the Hunt Club, which then spilled outside where one person opened fire on the players. No arrests have been made.

School officials identified the players as LB Tim Green, LB Martez Smith and DL Deddrick Jones.

Police say the club was very crowded when they arrived, so they are hoping more witnesses come forward. Police are not ruling out gang activity being involved in the shooting. The victims were not armed.

Head coach Larry Fedora and other team members were seen at the hospital in Sunday visiting the injured players.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and U.S, Marshals are assisting the Hattiesburg Police Department in the investigation.
