2011 NBA Draft Results: Picks 21-30

| by Alex Groberman

The final third of the 2011 NBA Draft was just as fascinating to take in as the first two. While early first round picks tend to be based entirely on what the prospect can immediately do for the team drafting him, the later picks rely moreso on what a given team may need down the line.

David Kahn's Minnesota Timberwolves used their No. 20 overall pick on Donatas Motiejunas, who they then packaged with Jonny Flynn and shipped to the Houston Rockets for the No. 23 overall pick, Brad Miller and a future first rounder. Duke’s Nolan Smith came off the board next to Portland Trail Blazers, a team with sufficient enough depth to allow him to learn the NBA game at his own, gradual pace.

Here is how picks 21-30 ended up looking:

21. Portland Trail Blazers – Nolan Smith, PG

22. Denver Nuggets – Kenneth Faried, PF

23. Chicago Bulls – Nikola Mirotic, PF

24. Oklahoma City Thunder – Reggie Jackson, PG

25. New Jersey Nets – Marshon Brooks, SG

26. Dallas Mavericks – Jordan Hamilton, SF

27. Boston Celtics – JaJuan Johnson, PF

28. Miami Heat – Norris Cole, PG

29. San Antonio Spurs – Cory Joseph, PG

30. Chicago Bulls – Jimmy Butler, SF
