Is ADHD/ADD Overdiagnosed in America?

Eileen Bailey, not a physician, but a lay-person, mother and journalist has been pushed front and center to make excuses for the pseudo-scientific drug-pushing that is “treatment” for the invented, wholly subjective, non-existent “disease” ADHD.  The physician leaders of the psychiatric-pharmaceutical-government cartel that drugs 5 million normal children (when the victims are normal it is called poisoning) include F.X. Castellanos of NYU (my alma mater) Peter Jensen and Laurence Greenhill of Columbia University, Joseph Biederman and Timothy Wilens of Harvard, to mention but a few.  Like all physicians, they went to medical school, learned the difference between normal and diseased (abnormal), and how, in the legitimate practice of medicine, to tell the difference.  They know that without a demonstrable gross (a visible or palpable lump), microscopic (cancer cells from a biopsy or ‘Pap smear) or chemical abnormality (diabetes, gout, PKU) the patient is medically normal and requires no medical treatment.  As normal children, the 5 million should not be lied to, called “diseased” and be coercively drugged.  And yet, this is exactly what is happening.  And the numbers are continuing to rise.
 
Bailey is the spokesperson because these physicians and academic leaders of the ADHD fraud will not appear in any forum in which they cannot control the dialogue.  They will make excuses such as “Baughman is a Scientologist (a slander should they wish to pursue it), or “Baughman is not an ADHD expert,” when there can hardly be an “expert” when it comes to a disease that does not exist.  They will also, no doubt, belittle Opposing Views for hosting an open forum, fostering facts and the truth, making them all the more uncomfortable.  
 
Actually, Ms. Bailey was not well-coached, for she confesses to the “the subjective nature of the (ADHD) diagnosis.”  This is a confession that there is no objective abnormality, no disease, and that children whose “main symptoms…hyperactivity, impulsiveness and inattention” are normal children doing what normal children do—behaviors which will likely disappear with advancing age, and honest expectations and discipline from honestly informed parents and teachers, as has been true throughout history.  
 
Nor have brain scans or any other line of sham research carried out by ADHD “experts” proved that ADHD is an actual disease or that a single child labeled and drugged has a diagnosable disease.
 
Having reviewed all brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies from 1986-1998, James M. Swanson and Castellanos testified: “ADHD is characterized by reduced size in the frontal lobes and basal ganglia.” I challenged Swanson, asking: “Why didn't you mention that virtually all of the ADHD subjects were on stimulant therapy making this the likely cause of the brain atrophy?”  Swanson confessed. The fact that all of the studies reviewed were done on stimulant-treated subjects means that the stimulant exposure was the only physical variable and the likely cause of the brain atrophy.  With their “treated” status having been exposed, it could no longer be claimed that the never-validated disease, ADHD was the cause, and the independent Panel of Consensus Conference was forced to conclude: “We do not have a valid test for ADHD... there are no data to indicate that ADHD is a brain malfunction.”  

Finally, Bailey cites the 2002 study of Castellanos et al., admittedly the one and only MRI study to include an untreated ADHD cohort.  However, because the ADHD-untreated group was two years younger than control group, the study was invalid—worthless.  More sham science and more drugging of normals.
 
The CT and MRI brain scanning research has proved 15 studies-over, not that ADHD is a real, diagnosable, disease, but that the narcotics (amphetamines including Ritalin-methylphenidate) almost all are “treated with following diagnosis, are the cause of the “on average 10 percent brain atrophy, shrinkage, shriveling.  They didn’t have brain atrophy when diagnosed, nor were they destined to get it, rather, it was done to them by the “treatment”  Nor does this mention how many are killed (186 deaths due to methylphenidate 1990-2000) or what is done to their hearts and to the rest of their bodies by psychiatric drugs.  
 
It is pathetic that no real ADHD “expert” will come on Opposing View to debate what they are really doing to the entirely normal children of America and the rest of the world.
