Should the U.S. Immediately Begin Withdrawal from Iraq?
The reasons for invading Iraq in 2003 have been debated and analyzed in full. But no matter what conclusions you've made, the U.S. is now left with a serious situation that deserves careful attention. We must determine how long -- or even if -- the military stays. Is it time to start bringing troops home or is more time needed to complete our goals?

What's yours?
You agree with Code Pink that the Iraqi people and government want US troops to leave. (PM Maliki recently backed Obama's plan for withdrawal.) That doesn't really sound like an objection to me. But then you ask, what would you do in these hypothetical future scenarios? Do you mean to imply that if Iran has too much control over oil from the Persian Gulf, you believe that US troops should continue fighting in Iraq against the wishes of the Iraqi government? Do you mean to imply the US should ignore the requests of an ally, and basically do something tantamount to invading their country, because there's a chance that some other nearby countries might feel vaguely threatened and ask for some nebulous kind of help in the future? That seems to me to create more problems than it could possibly be imagined to solve. So my question is: is that really your alternative? If it is, you need to provide a better explanation for why you think it would be helpful or successful. If it is not, this is no objection at all.
