Can Prayer Heal?

Can Prayer Heal?

Have you ever been so sick that you just closed your eyes and started to pray? If so, you’re not alone. According to a University of Rochester study, as many as 85 percent of people pray in addition to receiving treatment. It’s not uncommon to see priests visiting hospitals or congregations laying hands on the sick, but can prayer really restore your good health?

There are no good studies to document the healing power of prayer, and there never will be! How do you control for level of Faith? Efficacy of types of prayer? etc. Amoxicillin cures sometimes, sometimes it does nothing. Even evidence based medicine is limited to only a guideline as any patient has a chance to be an outlier on your bell shaped curve. Perhaps you will never be able to prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt. Maybe anecdotes are all we have, or ever will have, that's where faith comes in.
