Does Pornography Harm America?

The Internet explosion has brought the previously underground world of pornography directly to the homes and desktops of thousands of Americans. In fact, porn now grosses an estimated $15 billion annually in the U.S. alone. While some see pornography's popularity as a sign of America's profound moral decay, others believe pornography is harmless -- and even beneficial or educational. Is pornography dirty entertainment or good clean fun?

It’s A Help to Busy Couples

A lot of people think that porn harms marriages. Perhaps compulsive/insensitive consumption of adult material creates stress in some marriages whose members are conflicted about its use but in 25 years of making adult movies I’ve received countless letters of gratitude from married couples from all over the world thanking me for helping to keep the home fires burning. It makes sense when you think about it like this: sometimes we have all day to cook up a delicious meal by making everything from scratch and sometimes we’ve just gotta open a box so we can get our blood sugar back to normal. Married sex is like that, too. Sometimes a couple has all day to make a party out of it: send the kids away, turn off the phone, light some candles, get out the massage oil and really go to town. Sometimes a couple has barely thirty minutes late at night when they want to connect and pull off a quick one so they can go to sleep already, for crying out loud. That’s where I come in. A couple can take out a video, watch enough of it to get on the same page, arousal-wise, and then have the married-sex equivalent of comfort food: nothing fancy but still quick and satisfying. Like fast food, you wouldn’t want a steady diet of it, but it sure hits the spot sometimes and there’s nothing wrong with that.
