Is Homosexuality a Sin?

Is Homosexuality a Sin?

There has been no shortage of controversy as gay people assume increased roles as parents and married couples in our society, but almost nowhere has this conflict been more intense than in the church. Many religious leaders have condemned homosexuality, calling it a sin or even an abomination, but for millions of gay people around the world, there is nothing inherently sinful about their sexual preferences.

Okay, let's cover this point by point.

a) God’s exclusive design of male and female relationships as stated in Genesis

God never says or implies in the Genesis historical account, that his anatomical design of males and females requires ONLY male-female partnerships or that male-male and female-female partnerships draw His wrath.

That belief is something scripture simply does not say. What you're doing is reading into the text, something the text manifestly does NOT say and then insisting that the rest of us should live according to what the Bible does NOT say.

b) sin being accurately defined as disobedience to God’s law,

I believe many gay and lesbian Christians would whole-heartedly agree with you on point b.

c) explicit, multiple, scriptural references to God’s disapproval of homosexual behavior

This is more wishful thinking or presupposition or personal opinion than Biblical fact. As noted in my post titled, 7 Flawed Arguments, the Bible prohibits shrine prostitution but never prohibits committed, faithful, non-cultic same sex partnerships.

If you are aware of any Bible verse which in context, prohibits committed, faithful, non-cultic same sex partnerships, I encourage you to share it with us.
